Just finish watching this Japanese drama - Watashu Wa Seikei Bijin. Nice drama. I think is also the japanese version of my id is gangnam beauty. The female lead underwent for plastic surgery to make her life better due to her past experience which she feel due to her not so beautiful face.
Sometimes people in nowadays ear do judge people by their looks/appearance Many do not realized it is the inner beauty that matters.
Let me share some of my past encounter.
Secondary school days
I chosen girl guides as one of my eca. Last time I not sure why I do not like to comb my hair and I was rather pump compared to now. I still remember there is a group of boys looking at me and mention to me : can't stand you. That means i not pretty to be in girl guide? That is really very insane and rude of them. Who makes the rules that to join girl guide one must be pretty. Really siao!
ITE
During one of the lesson, I was reading a paragraph from a essay, one of an Indian female classmate laugh. I also do not know what she laugh at.
Workplace
I worked this ferry company, there was this female Malaysian colleague very rude to me. I not sure why. She was the cashier located behind us counter staff. I handed to her customer note in exchange of coins, She just throw on the floor those coins. I do not remember that I got offend her in any way. One nice lady colleague say me why I did not stand up for myself. After a period of time, this person was promoted to supervisor. I think the management really got blind eyes. I mean there are better candidate more capable to take up that role. When she was servicing in the front line, her typing was damn slow, one hand type and one hand held customer passport to key in system to issue the ferry ticket. They have cctv to monitor so why did they not notice her work performance before they promote her. Ridiculous.
Years later after I left the company, I was heard she was fired by the management, Serves her right.
After this incident, I have trained myself to stand up for myself. Although at times my husband ask me ignore similar unpleasant encounter, but I seriously do not agree. If you do not speak up for yourself, people will think you are too good to be bully. Sometimes being silence may not be good.
For those who are feeling the same way I felt in the past, do not make yourself feel bad due to the unpleasant action people may do to you. Instead you can make yourself a better person. We can be like the female lead in this drama muster your courage and be brave to fight for yourself.😊
